Known for their accessories, MAXIM Defense introduced their inaugural PDX rifle in 2019, available in .300, 5.56mm, and 7.62x39mm calibers. Continuing their rifle line, they then launched the ergonomically designed MD:9 K PCC rifle; a short-barreled rifle in 9mm configuration, catering to the rising popularity of AR9-style rifles in the 2022 market. With its compact profile and compatibility with Glock magazines, the MD:9 K presents a low-profile silhouette, making it an ideal choice for concealed carry. In collaboration with VFC, MAXIM Defense has brought this rifle to the airsoft community as a GBB rifle, mirroring the design aesthetics of its real steel counterpart in the MD:9 K variant. With licensed trademarks and rollmarks specific to this model, it includes furniture accessories from MAXIM to enhance its visual appeal, such as the SCW Gen7 PDW stock, Free Floating Single Slot MDX Handguard, reversible M-RAX Hand Stop, and the Steel HATEBRAKE muzzle brake device. The flared magwell is equipped with a textured surface that provides an alternative grip position, complemented by an ambidextrous magazine release and charging handle for convenient reloading with either hand.

At its core, the rifle operates on the VFC v3 GBB system, featuring a MAXIM licensed lightweight CNC aluminum bolt carrier that ensures a high rate of fire, offering familiarity for VFC AR users. Shooters can select between SAFE, SEMI, and AUTO fire modes, allowing them to maximise the performance of the lightweight bolt with the high rate of fire.
